WHEN LESS IS MORE

One thing I've learnt in my recent years of styling and teach in my online course, Interior Styling 101, is that 'less is more'.

When you have a well-designed space, a few beautiful pieces of furniture and art are all you need to have an elevated space.

Recently I styled the home of Australian interior designer Nina Maya which is on the cover of this month's Marie Claire Lifestyle magazine. Her home is a great example of the less is more theory. 🤍

Nina specialises in beautiful bespoke residential and commercial interiors.

Her interior design philosophy is…

“Purity of materials, unexpected elements, and custom designed details are the hallmarks of style.”

Nina’s home is indeed warm, beautiful with an enveloping sense of relaxation and purity.

Nina shows that you don’t need to have lots of things to have a beautiful home, just well-considered details, a few hero pieces and art to create a focal point.

A study in white

The home is calm and minimal yet everything Nina has in her home is well-designed, refined and unique.

White can often feel harsh but in this instance, white works here because Nina chose a warm shade of white.

Additionally the walls of her home are textured with Venetian plaster creating texture, and the use of marble and timber brings contrast and depth.

Nina’s home is one of luxury neutral interiors but at the same time, the space is dreamy, warm and inviting.

In this issue of Gazette, I share photos of Nina’s home featured in Marie Claire’s Lifestyle magazine.

This issue of Marie Claire is jammed packed with lots of great interior inspiration. I encourage you to pick up a copy, you won't be disappointed as I think it's their best issue yet! 🤍
